hello.
i have question for any one who can answer. My friend just got her new computer, how ever she discovered that she is using xp media center adation and not xp home like she asked which meens she is unable to use jfw unles she orders jaws proe. What is the differents between xp home and media center adition? I was just wondetring. I am really feeling bad for her. she does not have much of a choice now except to keep restarting her computer if she uses it and she does not want to pay any money for jfw proe.
Thanks for l8isten8ing.
The only real difference that I'm aware of is that media center addition is geared more toward entertainment than it is for working. Since JFW home doesn't work on this Operatoring system, she is left with a couple of options probably none of which are very pleasing. The first is if it is new and she can take it back. I mean, if she just baught the computer, perhaps whomever she baught it from would allow her to switch to XP home, though depending on the hardware configuration, this might not be possible. Option 2 is one I'd never take. That is, pay the extra $200 for jaws pro. The only other suggestions I can offer aren't legal ones, so I will not mention them.
The fact that media centre edition is not officially supported by freedom scientific yet suggest that there could still be multiple problems, so it doesn't sound to me as though upgrading JFW would be a wise choice. Save your money and see if the laptop can be reinstalled with windows xp home edition.
If it didn't though Sam, the demo wouldn't work, as was indicated in the first post. But I do agree that the best thing to do is to try to get xp home put on the computer.
Hi Well that is what I thought, but she is us8ing a desktop and not a laptop.
sorry, i don't know why i automatically assumed it was a laptop. same thing applies to a desktop configuration. xp all the way.
